Making meat with peas is a delicious and easy dish! Here’s a simple recipe for a hearty meat and pea stew:
Ingredients meat with peas:
- 500g (1 lb) beef, lamb, or chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tomatoes, chopped (or 1/2 cup canned tomatoes)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 tsp cumin (optional)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups beef or chicken broth (or water)
- 1 bay leaf (optional)
Instructions:
- Sauté the Onion & Garlic:
Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and golden. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute. - Brown the Meat:
Add the meat to the pot and cook until browned on all sides. - Add Tomatoes & Spices:
Stir in the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste. Add paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes until the tomatoes break down. - Simmer:
Pour in the broth (or water), add the bay leaf, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes (for chicken) or 1-1.5 hours (for beef or lamb) until the meat is tender. - Add the Peas:
Stir in the green peas and cook for another 10 minutes until they are tender. - Serve:
Remove the bay leaf, check for seasoning, and serve hot with rice, mashed potatoes, or bread.
