Egyptian style shrimp ingredients:
- 500g (1lb) medium or large shrimp, peeled and cleaned
- 2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
- 5 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp paprika (optional for color)
- ½ tsp ground turmeric (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)

1. Sauté the Aromatics:
